____ Je me souviendrais du jeudi 23 juin 2011 comme le jour où mon rêve se réalisa : voir Kings Of Leon en concert. En chair et en os, à quelques mètres de moi, dans le parc mythique qu'est Hyde Park. Et en toute objectivité, ce concert sera le meilleur de ma vie.

____ Une chose à savoir : dans le public, si vous vous mettez devant une anglaise qui attend le début du concert depuis six heures, n'espérez pas vous en faire une amie. Ou encore, si la personne qui est derrière vous ne voit pas la scène, c'est votre faute. Même si cette personne fait 1m50, oui oui c'est votre faute.
Bagarres de côté, les quatre nashvilliens entament le concert avec Radioactive sous les cris et applaudissements des 60 000 spectateurs. Si leur musique a considérablement changée depuis Youth & Young Manhood (2003), leur côté 'southern' est toujours bien présent. Les guitares résonnent dans Hyde Park, et la batterie de Nathan Followill ne tarde pas à réveiller la foule, présente depuis le début de l'après-midi.
La setlist est un parfait mélange des cinq albums : Taper Jean Girl, Charmer, Fans, No Money, Closer ... On notera aussi la superbe performance de Manhattan, chanson préférée du groupe.
____ Bien sur, il fut très dur pour moi de contenir mon émotion. Une émotion partagée par les KOL eux-mêmes : Caleb n'en finira pas de nous remercier pour notre soutien, et l'amour que nous leur portons. Par 'nous', je parle des fans anglais. Un peuple qui a toujours soutenu le groupe, depuis leur premier album. Glastonbury sera d'ailleurs le tout premier festival qu'ils joueront, le 28 juin 2003.
Quatre opus plus tard, les fans sont toujours bien présents, et font entendre leurs voix. Les paroles sont connues par coeur, et font trembler le Park. Notamment pendant la fameuse Pyro, dont les 'Watch her roll, can you feel it?' du pont résonnent encore dans ma tête.

____ On aura beau dire ce que l'on voudra, les Kings Of Leon ont cette étrange capacité à adoucir les moeurs. Alors que le concert avait plutôt mal commencé pour moi (fight anglais), je me retrouve à danser avec cette même personne. Les nuages ont disparus, et ont fait place à un magnifique couché de soleil. Une atmosphère à la limite du romantique prend place, alors que les notes de Back Down South se font entendre. Un sourire se dessine sur les visages, comme si soudainement nous étions tous heureux. C'est peut-être ça l'effet KOL, une sensation de bonheur. Et le petit coeur sensible que je suis est très, très heureux.

____ Evidemment, qui dit Kings Of Leon, dit Sex On Fire. C'est ce tube planetaire qui finira le concert. Enfin, 'finira' entre guillemets, puisque le rappel ne tardera pas : Knocked Up, Use Somebody et Black Thumbnail.
Je me souviendrais certainement toute ma vie de ce moment : Nathan, debout devant sa batterie, une bière à la main, jouant les premiers battements de Knocked Up. Entendre sa chanson préférée retentir dans tout Hyde Park, ça ne m'arrivera surement qu'une fois dans ma vie. Un peu comme un but atteint, un achèvement, ces 7:10 minutes resteront pour moi le plus beau souvenir de ce concert.
Thumbs up pour les feux d'artifice qui clotureront cette folle soirée.
____ Je suis fan de Kings Of Leon depuis le tout départ. C'est un peu comme si j'avais grandi avec eux. Je les ai vu atteindre des sommets, comme je les ai vu se casser la gueule. Alors forcément, cet article doit paraitre enfantin, ou sans aucune objectivité. Mais peu importe, aujourd'hui, je peux enfin dire "J'ai vu les Kings Of Leon en live", et bon Dieu, qu'est-ce que ça fait du bien!

____ I'll remember June, 23rd as the day my dream came true : seeing Kings Of Leon on stage. From head to toe, a few meters from me, in the famous Hyde Park. In all objectivity, this gig will be the best of my life.
Note : when in the crowd, if you stand in front of a British person who has been waiting for the gig to start for six hours, do not expect them to become your friend. Or, if the person behind you can't see the stage, it's your fault. Even if that person is 5'1, yes it's your fault.
____ Fights aside, the four Nasvhille boys start the gig with Radioactive, with the screams and applause of 60,000 spectators. If their music has changed considerably since Youth & Young Manhood (2003), their 'southern' side is still there, and alive. The guitars ring out in Hyde Park, and it doesn't take long to Nathan Followill to wake the crowd up, present since early in the afternoon.

____ Of course, it has been very hard for me to contain my emotions. An emotion shared by KOL themselves: Caleb can't stop thanking us for our support and the love we give them. By 'we', I mean English fans. People who have always supported the band since their first album. Glastonbury also happens to be the first festival they've ever played across the Atlantic, on June 28th, 2003.
Four albums later, fans are still there and make their voices heard. The lyrics are known by heart, and make the Park shake. Especially during the famous Pyro, whose 'Watch Her roll, Can You Feel It? " still echo in my head.
____ People may say what they want, Kings Of Leon have this uncanny ability to soften the manners. While the concert had a bad start for me (British fight), I find myself dancing with that same person a few songs later. The clouds disappear and give way to a beautiful sunset. A romantic atmosphere takes place, while the first notes of Back Down South can be heard. Faces all smily, as if suddenly we were all happy. Maybe that's it, the KOL effect, a feeling of happiness. And the sensitive little heart that I am is very, very happy.
____ Of course, Kings Of Leon now rhymes with Sex On Fire . It is this worldwide hit that will end the concert. Well, 'end' in inverted commas, since the encore will come shortly after: Knocked Up, Use Somebody and Black Thumbnail.
I'll always remember this moment : Nathan standing in front of his drums, a beer in hand, playing the first beat of Knocked Up. To Hear your favorite song resounding throughout Hyde Park probably only happens once in your life. Like a goal I achieved, a completion, these 7:10 minutes remain for me the best memory of this concert.
Thumbs up for the fireworks which will end this crazy night.
___ I've been a fan of Kings Of Leon from the very beginning. It feels like I grew up with them. I saw them reaching heights, as I saw them falling down. Inevitably, this article must sound childish or unbiased. But whatever, today I can finally say "I saw the Kings Of Leon Live" and God, it feels good!
